My BFF from BH sent me a bottle of JD and a note;
I feel like I'm 14 again...     Thanx Miss Kim!

My clutter of a fridge!   Postcards from Las Vegas,

(And loving it.... btw)

So my last week has been terribly exciting and wonderful, BUT incredibly unproductive?  Hopefully my lecturers won't read this!!  It's okay, I'm good at all nighters...  I'm off to the parades @ Rundle Mall this afternoon and I can't wait... Tres nervous et excitement!  (hence the unproductiveness!)  I bought myself a new cardy so I'm feeling pretty spoilt all round at the moment!  (Along with the JD, the parade tonight, getting my makeup done by the uber talented and super sweet Mishka @ MAC and I also happened to win $100 from a competition thing at work!)  Ahhh I wish it was like this ALL the time...

My girl Katie from Paris (see Parisian Postcard on Fridge, et al) touched down in Australia today also - and I am getting SUPER KEEN on a trip to Melbourne to catch up with her (amongst other things!)
Here's a photo of us from when we met in Valencia (aka it was the Tomatofest in 2008)  And could I just have it noted; I have never felt more gross in my life covered in tomatocrap!

With butterflies in my tummy and way too many assignments to do.... :)

Photo shoot for Newspaper;

Brilliant morning!

So it turns out the guy who did the shop front for Blackeby's Lollyshop has done like, the Brewery Lights and Christmas Pageant floats... how Adelaidean is THAT??!  Super stoked with designing for James Place so much more now!!

Met with some pretty amazing people @ the Advertiser then we trotted to James Place; worked with the very lovely and gorgeous Chantel and our photographer Dylan was absolutely AMAZING.  Had people taking photos around us which was kind of hilarious!  I cannot wait to see the final images, but here's some tasty teasers for you, because you'll have to make sure you pick up a copy of Adelaide's SUNDAY MAIL, obviously on this Sunday!!
This Lady in the blue skirt cracked me up!

Dylan and Chantel rocking it!

As RuPaul would say... You'd better WORRRRRRK !!!
(and she really really did!!)
I hope that I get to work with them both again in the near future!  (Dear Universe....**)
Hope you've enjoyed these sugarry treats!! :)

With a really big stupid, dopey grin....!

Project Rundle - James Place

We caught up with design duo Kate and Patricio on all things Project Rundle.

Which Adelaide laneway were you given for Project Rundle?
James Place.

Describe your garment and how the laneway/arcade influenced the design? What was your inspiration?
Our biggest inspiration was The Coffee Pot, but there were so many quirky and delicious places along James Place to choose, but this one was our favourite! We loved the colour, the stained glass and the back storey to The Coffee Pot. Our garment incorporates all our favourite things about it!

Tell us about the highlights and challenges of Project Rundle.
Sticking to a budget and restricted fabric choices - but this was a good thing too! It was great to try and figure out how we were going to turn our whimsical sketch into a 3D physical creation, it wasn't easy, we had to be innovative but we're really happy with the outcome!

Parades will take place on Friday 25 March at 12pm, 1:30pm, 5:30pm and 7pm and on Saturday 26 March at 12pm, 1pm and 2pm at the Gawler Place canopy.

Rundle Malteasers;

Cleaning out my phone/extHD/SD Cards and found some photos I'd taken on my phone while we were working on the Rundle Mall dress!

Patricio cutting out my pattern;
Fitting the lady bits; pointy!
Toile: basic prototype, similar fabric
Sewing machine/Toile shot;
Ruching uses way too many pins!
Patricio finishing off the back...!
Ruching laid flat, so much hand stitching!
Arty shot;
Cage skirt: for all the non-believers!

Think it was about this time last year I started this blog;
Happy Anniversary!!

Rundle Mall Project; March 2011

Hey everyone in my email!

Just spreading the word that there is going to be a couple of parades on March 25th (Friday) and March 26th (Saturday) in Rundle Mall with my dress inspired by the sweet and quirky James Place, just off Rundle Mall!
There are some teaser images if you follow the link; but my favourite image is the Coffee Pot sign!

http://tafesafashion.blogspot.com/

I worked with the wonderful Patricio from Chile for this assignment - we ended up branching off and making 2 dresses from the same inspiration and hopefully after the parades I can send you out some photos, because his was incredibly beautiful too!!
If you don't fancy these emails, hit me back -- it's not a problem if you don't want them!  BUT if you want more?
Join my FACEBOOK group and I also have a blog (www.misskate.com) which I'm trying to use more frequently....

Happy Long Weekend one and all!!
